Build American AI Applauds The White House’s National AI Framework

Calls on Congress to work with AI Industry Innovators to Pass a Smart National Regulatory Framework that Creates Good Jobs for American Workers, Win the Race against China, and Protects the Safety of Kids, Users, and Communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. [March 20, 2026] – Build American AI (BAAI) applauds the White House’s proposed national policy framework for Artificial Intelligence that positions America to lead the next century of innovation. This is a defining step towards creating a concise and unified approach to artificial intelligence and American leadership, setting basic safety standards that keep American companies competitive. The Trump Administration is putting forward a confident and forward looking vision that will enable new economic opportunity and innovation while protecting children, communities, and American values.

By advancing a national standard, this framework avoids the fragmented patchwork of state laws that have hindered progress and created uncertainty. While states have a role to play, this plan delivers the clarity entrepreneurs and users need to move forward with confidence.

“With smart leadership, the innovations of the next century will be defined by American builders and made to American standards. For too long, the conversation around AI has been dominated by fear and negativity,” said Nathan Leamer, Executive Director of Build American AI. “This proposal marks a turning point. It represents a bold and optimistic vision that sets basic safety standards, protects Americans and our children, embraces innovation, empowers American builders, and positions the United States to lead with confidence. If we seize this moment, America will lead this new era of growth, opportunity, and prosperity.”
